Covid-19 Update: Townsville Port Remains Operational
As part of essential transport and logistics, the Ports of Townsville and Lucinda remain open and operational.

The Port is an essential service provider for the community and for the economy, remaining operational ensures that the goods people require every day are available.
While a Federal Government restriction is current for all international cruise ships entering Australian waters until 17 September, the Port will continue to remain open to commercial shipping unless a requirement to close becomes unavoidable, outlined Townsville Port via their website.

The Ports of Townsville and Lucinda are closely monitoring developments surrounding COVID-19. The Port of Townsville has a response team in place and we are taking active, precautionary measures to increase our response as needed

Essential Transport and Logistics
Local transport, interstate and international shipping are an essential service, permitted to continue operating even with Covid-19 restrictions put in place by State, Territory and Federal Governments.
All Distribution Direct staff follow the health and safety practices outlined by the World Health Organisation and the Australian Federal Government.
We’re taking our responsibility to deliver essential services for communities and businesses isolated and under pressure during this time seriously.
Where we can, our headquarters staff work from home and our drivers take additional precautions for their health and the safety of our communities.
Our Darwin and Townsville routes remain operational, as do our local Cairns, Townsville and Mackay services.
